Harpenden ran rampant with 6-1 derby day thrashing at home to Colney Heath

The Harps won comprehensively in the Hertfordshire derby as a 4-minute flurry of goals in the first half was matched by another 3 goals in the second with Harps Captain Ryan Plowight delighted.

Harpenden made a bright start as Charlie Smiths freekick was parried wide by the Colney goalkeeper and Danny Webb plays a lovely cross to Elliot Bailey who taps just wide

Then the breakthrough, as Elliot Bailey passes to Danny Webb. He shoots and a weak save by the Colney goalkeeper lets Elliot score an easy tap in to open the scoring.

Only a few moments later, a pivotal moment occurred as Colney Heath's Number 7 is played through on goal, but the Fa cup hero Conor Freeman makes the save.

From the following clearance, the ball falls to Isiah Hillaire who makes a great run before playing Elliot Bailey in behind. Elliot Bailey nutmegs the goalkeeper as he scored his brace and his third goal of the season.

It got even better as Harpenden kept the momentum, Danny Webb played a lovely pass to Isiah Hillaire who taps it past the goalie, for his first goal of the season, to make it three goals in 4 minutes for Harpenden as Harpenden went into the second half 3-0 up at home this season.

In the second half, it didn’t take long for Harpenden to score again, as last year’s top goal scorer, Danny Webb opened his account for the season as Isiah Hillaire claimed his second assist of the game, cutting it back to Danny to score.

Colney Heath got a consolation goal through a nice counterattack, their number 14 putting it into the bottom left corner.

That didn’t stop the Harpenden momentum however as Dylan Joyce scored his first goal for Harpenden Town, the goal coming from five yards out from an Ollie Salami ball across the penalty area.

Harpenden ended up with 1 more as Ollie Salami scored the sixth from a cutback after a cross found its way to him and he slammed it into the net to round off an impressive home win for Harpenden Town as stay unbeaten this season.

In reaction to the victory, the Harps Skipper Ryan Plowight was delighted.

He said

“We are feeling really good”

“We felt a bit lethargic after a long Fa Cup game”

“We nicked the first goal; Conor kept us in it and we stepped up for the remainder of the game”

“The only disappointment was conceding a goal”

About Harpenden’s impressive home form, Michael Nathan was very pleased.

He said,

“We said from day one we need to make this place a fortress”

“A place where footballer don’t want to come”

Looking forward to the next game, Ryan Plowight said the team is focused.

He said

“For us, It’s so early in the season that it’s just the next game for all of us.
